Each trip begins at 9am with a short motor-boat ride to Waya Island (directly out in front of Matava Resort) where the guides and sea-kayaks will be waiting. (Guide:client ration, 1:2).
Each trip ends around 5pm back at Matava Resort (except the 24 hour trip, which returns to Matava by 9am the next day).
One day
A 3-hour Sea-kayakk journey across several lagoons leads to a spectacular snorkeling site, then on to Nacomoto, a traditional Fijian village. After a feast of local foods the guides will lead a trek along a trail through the rainforest to a pristine waterfall and swimming area. You can choose to return to Matava Resort by either sea-kayak or motor-boat.
24 hours
Day 1
Sea-kayak past numerous bays, beaches and small islands to Vacalea, a small Fijian village set on a hill-top, with panoramic views of the Great Astrolabe Reef. Along the way enjoy a beach-picnic and snorkeling session. (Total sea-kayaking time: 3 hours). For those keen for more action, a sea-kayaking and trekking side-trip to swim under a picturesque waterfall is also available. Overnight in comfortable home-stay accommodation (private room, shared bathroom). Participate in the sevusevu, the customary Fijian ceremony of welcome.

Day 2
After breakfast in the village, return to Matava Resort by motor boat in time for more adventures. (Arrival time back in resort: 9am).
Two days
Day 1
Sea-kayak past numerous bays, beaches and small islands to Vacalea, a small Fijian village set on a hill-top, with panoramic views of the Great Astrolabe Reef. Along the way enjoy a beach-picnic and snorkeling session. (Total sea-kayaking time: 3 hours). For those keen for more action, a sea-kayaking and trekking side-trip to swim under a picturesque waterfall is also available.
Overnight in comfortable home-stay accommodation (private room, shared bathroom). Participate in the sevusevu, the customary Fijian ceremony of welcome.
Day 2
The morning can be spent taking time to soak up the village atmosphere, converse with the locals, experience their lifestyle, and visit the local primary school. Another option is to do the sea-kayaking and trekking side-trip to the waterfall mentioned in the plan for day 1.
After lunch in the village you can choose to either sea-kayak or trek back to Matava Resort. Both options take around 3 hours, with motor-boat support available as needed.
Four days
Day 1
Sea-kayak along Kadavu Island’s coastline and across the channel to Waisomo village on Ono Island. Beach picnic and snorkeling en-route. (Sea-kayaking duration: 5 hours, with motorboat support available to shorten the paddling distance). Overnight in comfortable home-stay accommodation in the small, traditional village of Waisomo (private room, shared bathroom). Participate in the sevusevu, the customary Fijian ceremony of welcome.
Day 2
Circumnavigate Ono Island by sea-kayak, stopping on beautiful beaches for swims, snorkeling sessions, and a picnic lunch. (Sea-kayaking duration: 5-6 hours, with motorboat support available to shorten the paddling distance). Return to the home-stay accommodation in Waisomo village.
Day 3
The morning can be spent taking time to soak up the village atmosphere, converse with the locals, experience their lifestyle, and visit the local primary school.
After lunch in the village, the support motorboat will take you back over the channel to Kadavu Island, from where you can choose to trek or sea-kayak to Matava Resort. (Sea-kayaking or trekking duration: 3 hours, with motorboat support available as needed). Overnight accommodation in Matava Resort.
Day 4
A 2-hour sea-kayak journey across several lagoons leads to a spectacular snorkeling site, then on to a nearby traditional Fijian village. After a feast of local foods the guides will lead a 1-hour trek along a trail through the rainforest to a spectacular waterfall and swimming area. Back to Matava Resort by sea-kayak or motor-boat.
