Flora at Matava Resort

Fiji has 1,594 plant species of which 893 are endemic. The grounds of Matava Resort are filled with a host of tropical plant species, both endemic and regional.

Shoreline

Mangroves

Flora MangrovesAlong the shoreline can be found mangroves, tropical almond trees, Beach Hibiscus, puzzle nut and Pandanus.

Withing the grounds are a multitude of colourful fragrant flowers from the ever popular bouganvillia, frangipani and hibiscus to wild orchids.

Fruits & Nuts growing all around your bure

Flora Wildflowers

Much of the fresh fruit served to guests is grown all around the resort grounds.

Whilst the coconut palm is the most common palm on the island, many other types of palm tree can be seen around your bure.
Rainforest

Surrounding the resort is dense rainforrest jungle and thick bush with its myriad of trees, vines and towering ferns.

If you choose to take a short stroll, you will find that the open resort grounds quickly turn to wild jungle and bush.

Underneath the thick jungle cannopy, the ground is covered in damp leaf litter, ideal for a variety of tropical fungi.
